2 tons of whole frozen passion fruit will be sold in Australia in December at an expected price of 9 AUD per kg (about 145,000 VND per kg).
To promote the market share of passion fruit, the Embassy and Trade Office of Vietnam in Australia for the first time marketed 2 tons of whole frozen passion fruit to the Australian market.
The entry of passion fruit into the Australian market is considered a challenge because this is the country that produces this fruit with more than 4,700 tons a year. In particular, 91% passion fruit after being harvested is marketed for consumption in the form of fruit. Meanwhile, Vietnam's fresh passion fruit has not yet been opened, and is almost exclusively exported to Australia in the form of frozen pulp and intestines. Therefore, Vietnamese passion fruit does not have a brand name in this country.
Uu Dam Company is the unit participating in this export. Accordingly, instead of exporting passion fruit as before, the enterprise accepted the risk, choosing 2 tons of frozen whole fruit at the request of the Vietnam Trade Office.
The head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia said that this is a fruit that retains its flavor after freezing, due to the natural structure of the skin. Especially, the soil has helped passion fruit grown in Vietnam have the world's top quality, the strict culinary markets such as Switzerland, France, the Netherlands ... are all loved.
Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh emphasized that the branding of whole frozen passion fruit is important in the context of ongoing negotiations for fresh passion fruit to Australia.
The expected selling price of Uu Dam Company in Australia is about 9 AUD per kg. Compared to other markets, Australia only opens 4 types of fresh Vietnamese agricultural products. According to the Vietnam Trade Office, the country is also a powerhouse in agriculture, so to develop the market and achieve an export growth of 27,65% after 10 months in the context of Covid-19 is a great joint effort, including the program to build brand and search for market space.
